Waking up with the sun glaring through the blinds to a glorious morning is just simply ... er, glorious.
Maybe for someone who still remains a bum and has no work stress to worry about. :D
Then you peek at the time to decide whether it's time to jump out of bed and seize the day, or to continue lounging in bed til you're good and ready to jump out of bed and seize the day.
The clock tells you that it's 6am.
6am.
...
Ah, summer.
I pull the duvet over my head and go back to dreamland.
It still rains every now and then, bringing temperatures down to 15 - 17'C, so until the heatwave smothers us, I will be grateful for any cool sunny days.
Which reminds me, I need to stock up on the sun block!
Which reminds me, I need to stock up on the sun block!
With hot summer days in mind, the dinner menu is tweaked (just a wee bit) to accommodate make way for beer and more beer.
Rice paper rolls of vermicelli, minced meat or prawns, topped with coriander, spring onions, crushed peanuts and drizzles of Vietnamese dipping sauce has made an appearance twice so far. The squeeze of lime (into the dipping sauce) is a refreshing taste - reminding me that perhaps I'd better prepare some mojitos to replace the beer. ;)
Lime, usually about 1.5 inches in circumference are sold as cheap as 99 cents, if you're lucky, or 2 for AUD$1.00 if you're really lucky.
I am waiting for Lemmie to grow (seriously, please hurry!) and until I am sure he will survive in my very un-green hands, we will purchase a lime tree seedling to grow our very own lime tree.
Tomorrow will spent at Lerderberg State Park, running 30KM of trails (I may cut it short if my knees don't hold up) and then joining the rest of the runners for a barbeque. It's going to be my first Aussie barbie!
It's a no-frills event organised by 2 runners, which will see 100+ taking part. Friends and family who aren't running are welcome to have a picnic while waiting for the runners to come in.
It's going to be a long drive so argh, we'll have to leave the house by 5am at the latest.
But I must persevere, because it's part of the current training plan that I am on!
Summer also sees bugs and insects fluttering around the house. Hmmfh! The constant need to vacuum the place and sweep up bee/moth/fly corpses are just tiresome!
If they can find their way in, why can't they find their way out again, through the same window??
Oh, and spiders. There's a small black one still up on the bathroom ceiling and it has been weeks.
I just hope it won't decide to land on me while I shower.
This picture of the badge huntsman spider was found on the kitchen wall one morning. We left it there and the next morning, it had wandered to our living room ceiling. The day after, it was found in the bathroom.
And then ...
Interestingly, different types of spiders (or snakes) can be found in different states of Australia. So this badge huntsman spider is based in Victoria. They don't spin webs.
And that's your 5 cents' worth of National Geographic lesson for the day, thank you. Hah!
30k in the trails can be tough. Hope the knees hold out for ya.
ReplyDeleteAnd spiders that look like that orange thingy can be found there? OMG! I'm going to have nightmares tonight!
-.-
Deletefrom leeches to lizards to spiders ... as long as you don't start screeching like a girl when i'm around, i will still be your friend, LOL!
some runners saw snakes during their run yesterday and i'm kinda glad that i didn't! it would have been freaky!
